Wine Bottles Advertising Project

Wine Bottles Advertising Project

For my final photography 2 project I chose photographing bottles. The theme I tried to develop was a luxury ad for different wine bottles. I stuck with this topic and each week continuously tried to improve it. The reason I chose this topic was because of my previous experience with shooting bottles for the past project and I wanted to take it a step further. Throughout my shoots I would experiment with different types of wine and cognac bottles, and use different locations and lighting.

On my first shoot I started at my grandparent’s house on April 24, 2010. They had beautiful bottles of cognac and chardonnay.  I tried moving the bottles to throughout the house, but it wasn’t a great shoot unfortunately, but lessons were learned. I had beautiful bottles to use for my project, but the light I wanted just wasn’t there. I did this shoot sometime in the late afternoon. I used window light and had my camera set to Automatic ISO at most part. Sometimes I would play with the aperture and iso’s and I used black and white effect on some of the photos. I finished with many results but the photographs end results looked great on the small screen of my camera but when I took it to the computer I wasn’t happy with most of them. The exception to this was the black and white photos came out gorgeous, but I felt it wouldn’t fit into my final project because it would be hard to combine it with colored photos.

The next shots were taken on April 28,2010 which was just days since my last shoot. This time I shot early in the day when there was a lot of sunlight. Most shoots were outdoors but I decided to try indoors again as well. The outdoor shots were really nice and I felt they got the job done well. This shoot was different from the last one because I used the bottles I had in my home and it was the early part of the day. This shoot I used Auto iso and I finished my shoot with many shots always using color and the natural light. I felt this shoot was very successful and I was happy with my results.

After my previous shoot I thought I wanted to try shooting outside one more time. This time I wanted to capture the trees with the bottles and the patio which I felt added to the luxury theme. The results just kept improving with each shoot. In the end I had really nice results and felt it was the most successful shoot.

My final shoot I wanted to capture some individual bottles with wine glasses rather than the usual position I did with many bottles lined up just to add a little to the variety of my shoot. I finished my shoots with the vision I had completed the way I wanted it to be. I feel my experiments evolved strong the way I wanted it to be. I feel my experiments evolved strongly from the first shoot to the last. I learned a lot from the shoots and learned the best results were outside in the daylight. My theme was a luxury wine advertisement and my goal was to get beautiful results for my photos.
